Minister of Interior Pledges to Prevent and Combat Human Trafficking



Banteay Meanchey: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H.E Sar Sokha, announced increased cooperation with the Royal Government of Thailand and other nations in the battle against human trafficking and related offenses. His Excellency emphasized the Cambodian government’s unwavering commitment to more robustly prevent and combat these acts, ensuring perpetrators do not evade justice.

Addressing the audience at the Inauguration Ceremony of the Poipet Transit and Reception Center in Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province, on Monday morning, December 18, 2023, His Excellency underscored the relentless efforts of outlaw groups and their networks to devise new criminal schemes. He noted the utilization of modern technology by these groups to ensnare victims, adversely impacting individuals both within and outside the country. However, the Cambodian government is actively exploring comprehensive measures to shield people from these Complex crime.

His Excellency outlined four key strategies to intensify the fight against human trafficking: reinforcing domestic and foreign cooperation, advancing the prevention of all forms of human trafficking and child sexual abuse, bolstering the criminal justice system, and enhancing the protection of victims, particularly women and children.
