Disability Action Council Holds Preparatory Meeting for Day of Persons with Disabilities


Phnom Penh: On Tuesday afternoon, October 3, 2023, H.E. Em Chan Makara, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, and also the Secretary General of the Disability Action Council, presided over an internal meeting. The purpose of this meeting was to meticulously prepare for the upcoming celebration of the 25th National and 41st International Day of Persons with Disabilities, scheduled for December 3, 2023.

During the meeting, H.E. Em Chan Makara engaged with a panel of experts in the field of disability, and together they delved into discussions and decision-making regarding the thematic focus of the Day of Persons with Disabilities in 2023. The chosen theme is ‘Innovative Solutions for an Accessible and Equitable Society.’ Additionally, the meeting decided on five potential slogans, which will be submitted to the Royal Government for consideration in the issuance of an official circular.

As part of the planned proceedings, the Day of Persons with Disabilities 2023 is slated to take place at the Koh Pich Convention Hall. This event is expected to draw distinguished attendees, including the Head of the Royal Government, members of the Senate and the National Assembly, diplomats based in the Kingdom of Cambodia, development partners, and individuals with disabilities. The total estimated participation comprises approximately 3,500 individuals.
