Siem Reap, November 16, 2023 – H.E. Suong Menglong, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, representing H.E. Chea Somethy, participated in the inauguration ceremony of Siem Reap Angkor International Airport. The event, presided over by Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet, marked a significant achievement to meet current and future aviation needs.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the airport’s importance in accommodating numerous flights, serving not only present demands but also preparing for the future. He urged the airport’s management to prioritize excellent hospitality for tourists, aiming to create memorable experiences for travelers.
The construction of Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, initiated in March 2020 by Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd (AIAI) with an investment of approximately US $1,100 million, follows a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) investment model spanning 55 years. The airport is designed to accommodate all types of large aircraft with a Class 4E designation for takeoffs and landings.
