Phnom Penh: On November 17, 2023, H.E Khom Phalloeun, the Delegate of Cambodia overseeing the Persons With Disabilities Fund, led the signing ceremony for the KUSANONE (Kusanoni) grant project provided by the Embassy of Japan. This grant, amounting to US $128,301, is designated for acquiring machinery for artificial equipment production and constructing accommodation facilities for the Prey Veng Rehabilitation Center.
The event witnessed the presence of Mr. TANINAI Ichitomo, the Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan to the Kingdom of Cambodia, along with the President of the Disability Fund, the President of the Prey Veng Rehabilitation Center, and various officials from the Japanese Embassy.
In his address, Ambassador TANINAI Ichitomo highlighted Japan’s longstanding commitment to assisting local authorities and Cambodian NGOs through the Kusanoni Program since 1991. The Kusanoni program has supported over 687 projects across Cambodia. The current grant of US $128,301 aims to fund the construction of a shelter for disabled individuals to receive services and the procurement of 13 artificial machines for the Prey Veng Provincial Rehabilitation Center.
H.E Khom Phalloeun, expressed sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for their continuous support to Cambodia. This includes the KUSANONE (Kusanoni) Grant Project, which has previously supported rehabilitation centers in Kratie, Takeo, and Kien Khleang. He emphasized that this grant will enable the Prey Veng Rehabilitation Center to expand its services to people with disabilities in Prey Veng and Svay Rieng provinces. H.E. Khom Phalloeun hopes that this project will enhance rehabilitation services, contributing to the improved well-being and abilities of people with disabilities, facilitating their enhanced participation in various activities.
