National Social Assistance Programs Under Review: Progress Check on Family Package and Vocational and Technical Training for Youth from Poor and Vulnerable Families


Phnom Penh, November 3, 2023 – In an important development, H.E. Suny Vongviseth, Secretary of State and Chairman of the National Social Assistance Fund, led a crucial meeting to assess the advancement of the National Social Assistance Program. This meeting held at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation focused on three key agendas:

  1. Implementation of National Social Assistance Program for Family Package: Deliberations revolved around the preparations for launching the national social assistance program aimed at supporting families in need.
  2. National Social Assistance Program for Vocational and Technical Training: Preparations to implement vocational and technical training for young individuals from disadvantaged and vulnerable families.
  3. Framework Launch for the National Social Assistance Program for Family Package: The meeting also addressed the preparations for the formal introduction of the framework for the Family Package component of the National Social Assistance Program.

The official launch of the National Social Assistance Program for the Family Package on December 5, 2023, holds special significance. This momentous occasion will be graced by the esteemed presence of Cambodia’s Prime Minister, Samdech Hun Manet, underscoring the government’s steadfast commitment to aiding vulnerable families and youth across the nation.
