Battambang – His Excellency Ek Kret, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and Chairman of the Cambodian National Committee for the Elderly, represented H.E Chea Somethy, Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation at the visit to the Association of the Elderly in Sor Pok Village, Kantea 1 Commune, Banan District, Battambang Province.
The 3rd Battambang Senior Citizens Forum was organized by HelpAge Cambodia on Friday with support from UNDP and Oxfam, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation. The event was attended by the Director-General of Social Services, Deputy Governor of Battambang Province, Director of the Department of the Elderly and Veterans, Deputy Director of the Department, and officials of the Department of the Elderly and Veterans. Additionally, representatives of the Department of Social Welfare from 10 provinces, relevant partner organizations, and elderly representatives from 25 provinces participated, totaling 348 attendees.
The third Elderly Forum aimed to provide insights into the processes and functions of the Association of the Elderly, a local-level mechanism contributing to societal protection and enhancing elderly awareness about key interventions and progress by the Royal Government in promoting the well-being of the elderly in Cambodia. These efforts align with the direction and strategic plan of the National Ageing Policy 2017-2030.
