Ministry of Social Affairs Spokesperson Unveils Strategies for Addressing Street Singing by People with Disabilities and Homelessness in Phnom Penh


Phnom Penh: Secretary of State, H.E Em Chan Makara, the Spokerperson of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation, recently sat down for an interview with Mr. Vann Sokunthea, a journalist from Kampuchea Thmey Daily, to discuss social support strategies and solutions for addressing the challenges of street singing by persons with disabilities and homelessness in Phnom Penh.

“Addressing these issues may appear straightforward at first glance, but it’s a complex task that necessitates a careful consideration of both the political and social context as well as the well-being of individuals who are genuinely in vulnerable situations.” H.E Em Chan Makara made these remarks on the morning of Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Social Affairs spokesperson affirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to providing financial support to pregnant women and children under the age of two since June 1, 2019. As of October 3, 2023, a total of 340,813 pregnant women and children under the age of two have benefited from this program, with an expenditure of USD 27,798,910.
